  • Learn from an Expert on How to Service Figure Skaters
  • Take Pride in the Work You Will Be Performing for Skaters
  • Help to Reduce the Number of Injuries to Skaters
  • Enjoy the Fruits of Your Labor for Many Years to Come

For the very first time, you can learn from the world’s leading expert on how to service the competitive figure skating market. Over the years there have been many who thought they could do it better than someone else but soon learned that they couldn’t. Obviously, those who have tried are no longer in business.

With over 40 years of hands-on business experience and an unassuming medical background, Mr. Edge has developed several different training programs for those wishing to enter the business or enhance their current knowledge.

Training sessions last anywhere from 3 days to 1 week in length and carry with it a lifetime of encouragement and support whenever needed.

Training sessions:

  • Blade sharpening
  • Boot preparation and blade mounting
  • General boot repairs; includes relining and re-supporting tongues, replacing hooks and eyelets, re-dying and taping boots…and more
  • Fitting boots; includes both technical background information and a hands-on workshop
  • Problem-solving
  • All-inclusive 1-week course

All training sessions include classroom teaching, hands-on workshop, and training manuals when applicable. At the end of each session, the technician will be given both an oral and written exam, which, he/she is expected to pass before receiving their certificate which will be signed and endorsed by Mr. Edge himself.

The standards may be high but consider the clientele. Together, we can “Change the Way the World Skates, One Skater at a Time.”

Scheduled Time for Training Sessions

Training sessions will be held in July of each year. The number of students for each class will vary depending on the course. The all-inclusive course will consist of only 2 students at any one time.

Program Costs:
Blade Sharpening – 3 Days: $3500.00
Boot Prep and Blade Mounting – 3 Days: $3500.00
General Boot Repairs – 3 Days: $1000.00
Fitting Boots – 3 Days: $3500.00
Problem Solving – 3 Days: $3500.00
All-Inclusive Course – 7 Days $15,000.00

The cost of the “All-Inclusive Course” includes a hotel room for the week, transportation to and from the airport if necessary, transportation to and from the training center, and all meals. It does not include transportation costs from your home to Chicago. Those attending are expected to make travel arrangements to arrive on a Sunday and leave the following Sunday.

Geppetto’s is located about 35 miles due west of downtown Chicago. There is plenty to do in and around the area. However, expect to spend long hours in training with very little downtime in between. The class will start at 9 a.m. each morning and end sometime around 8 p.m. Monday thru Friday and 4 p.m. on Saturday. Sunday is test day and will start at 9 a.m. and end when you are finished.

Training is not available to anyone currently living within 300 miles of the Chicago metropolitan area. The Chicago market is already oversaturated with too many pro-shops and independent skate sharpeners and Mr. Edge feels that he could not guarantee your success or that you would be able to profit from your initial investment.
